Magnets - purchase another batch
We're running low on magnet stocks, so it's time to purchase another batch. I've checked the price (see quote attached below) and it's come down a little since I asked a couple of months ago, but is still way higher than when we originally bought them, which is due to tariff wars and China's new export licence fees for specialised rare earths.
Current stocks are:
Nick - none
Chris - 6 pairs
Eric - 18 pairs (after he's done the 3 locos he's currently servicing)
Me - 4 pairs
As you can see from the quote, there is a significant price difference (20%) if we opt for the longer lead-time (17wks). The plan is to hand over 11 pairs from Eric to Nick and 4 pairs from me to Nick, which should keep the shop going as well as leaving enough for servicing. The club's roadshow locos will just have to wait. The longer/cheaper delivery date will be around about the Ruddington show in May. Don't break any before then!
Total cost - £617.50
The last batch has lasted roughly a year, maybe this batch will last a little longer!
