New cards for the roadshow

I heard that we have run out of the postcards we give out at the Doncaster show. Time for a new one, something that is not "time-bound" and will be able to be reprinted when required.

Question - apart from a nice picture, what do we want to say ?

Link to club website....and/or Facebook page ?

QR code for loco sales?

Some waffle ?

Some specific points for consideration:

This card is only available from our roadshow and should serve as a reminder of what they have seen and heard. Therefore the main picture should be a loco, with steam clearly visible and nothing should get in the way of that.

Secondly, a club exists that supports them (prominent club logo) and here's where to see more & get in touch - contact details clearly visible.

Final point is what the club offers to them - parts, servicing, loco sales & technical support. I don't think the history is relevant to someone considering starting (or more importantly re-starting) with live steam. The important thing is what support is available from here onwards.

End of messaging.

If they want to communicate to someone else about live steam, I believe that will most likely be by sending (electronically) the Facebook page or website details to the next person.

I don't think the "smiling faces" is relevant at all. This is not a traditional marketing message trying to vie for attention with many other similar marketing messages. This is trying to make a simple connection between what they have seen on the day and further online information.

OOLS Limited Edition Salt Vans

Exciting times . . . Now the new club salt wagons have been delivered its decision time again.

In the original post Jack suggested that from the order of 100 we keep 25 wagon for use on the Roadshow leaving 75 wagons to be sold to club members an idea supported by all.

However . . .

Proposal 1

  • Nick reports the delivery is actually 103 wagons.

  • We have also voted to buy Dave’s coal wagons and he indicated that the 23 wagons are the same length as the eight coach trains that the Roadshow is designed for and as a coal wagon

Nick has been paid for the brake van. A very nice addition for the club.

Goods train for the roadshow layout ?

As we don't have set of wagons for the road show layout, i wondered if the club would be interested in these?

They are Bachmann 16T mineral/plank wagons including guards van all are weathered with coal loads (most are resin which make quite a heavy train ideal for live steam) and all have metal wheels. There are 21 bachmann wagons and 2 which are kit built totalling 23 the same length as an 8 coach train.

I'm looking for £325 including the Bachmann storage box.

I've spoken to Chris with regards to these and we both agree it would make a nice change to the layout rather than than only coaches. Chris also suggested maybe selling a rake of coaches to offset the price.

Vote Result

11 in favour - none against - no abstentions

I have requested that Eric make the payment to Dave and will pick up the wagons after the Summer Meet

The result has been recorded in the Committee Decisions Log (2025 59) and the Goods Train for the Roadshow vote discussion has been closed.

Roadshow Shirt Order

All

As I am sure you are aware one of the items on my very long ‘to-do’ list has been to place another Roadshow shirt order and as George reminded me this has actually been on the list for more than a year, and to be honest it is no nearer the top!

At Doncaster during Saturday night’s dinner this again cropped up in conversation and as a result Jack has stepped up and volunteered to take on the task.

So now, at long last, for those Roadshow team members who don’t have a shirt and those who are busting out of their existing shirts (George) there will finally be a chance of sprucing up their appearance at the shows (and a smartly turned out crew will keep the Roadshow boss lady happy as well J)

I have forwarded the original shirt contact details to Jack and I am…

I think having our names on our lanyards is enough.
