Club shop report March 2022

We are now well into spring with Easter just around the corner and i can report on healthy activity in the Online and P.O.S shop.

March 19th-20th saw us at the Ally Pally one again and we were back to our best, playing, entertaining and drawing in the coppers.

Our total turnover was £2198.35!! Of that impressive total, £874.00 was for Loco sales via Maurice’s Loco Devision, £139.75 was postage charged out, leaving a net of £1184.60 for all shop parts sales.

The Ally Pally show generated £325.00 of that net figure. Coffee sales are on the up as well at 20 coffees consumed. Keep it up lads!!!

As an interesting note, over the last 6 months trading, we have turned over £6624.74 in the shop which is very encouraging.

We have received some excellent, (non obtainable) screws from David Frith, which will be very helpful in keeping our locos on the rails. Long and short A4 Front cover screws and two types of shouldered bolts for critical locations on the locos.

As we move into a new show season after the pandemical shutdown, we are trying out new and interesting venues like heritage railway groups and venues, some of our old existing exhibition venue are still reluctant to pay much if anything and Charles is pulling out some of his ‘sharpest’ tools to try and ‘extract‘ financial support for our valuable attendance thereof.

This means I am always well aware that our shop turnover is vital for the basic support for our attendance at shows, especially where we receive no contribution at all.

To ensure we remain buoyant,,,,,I have ‘Tuned’ the prices of many but not all items in the shop, especially in the current climate of rising prices. Some up a little and a few items down. Many items have remained at the same cost for years.

We have 53 Hornby lines and now 73 OOLS lines which is impressive on its own and does create a fair bit of merchandising work for me!! More of which in a separate posting.

To help offset some of this increased cost to those who work hardest to run the club, by which i mean the whole committee, I propose to offer an increase in shop discount from 10% to 15%. This will have only a small effect on overall turnover but negate the effects of the increased costs of shop items to those that work hard to keep our show on the road.

Well thats all for now, reports are in the usual section under the reports tab.
