There is a request in the club forum, Introduce yourself section for an opinion regarding a recently purchased loco. I was about to reply to this when I thought that being a committee member might be regarded as an answer from the club. Should an officer of the club answer questions like this after due deliberation by a group of committee members?

I would not give an opinion on a loco without first observing/handling it . Seeing as its hardly practical to hand round a loco to each committee member except, perhaps at exhibitions, all one can give is a personal opinion with a proviso that it does not represent the opinion of the committee.
