Committee Decisions

As many of you will already be aware Helen and I have now reached a point in our lives where we no longer need, nor can afford to continue to run two cars.

We originally bought the electric MG on a four-year PCP deal and this has now come to an end and in order to keep me as a customer the MG dealership and finance company unexpectedly offered a deal for a new MG that was too good to turn down so we are now the proud owns of another electric car, the new MG5S.

This means that I am no longer in a position to fund the upkeep of the XTrail and this creates an issue for the club.

If I am no longer responsible for the storage and transport of the Roadshow we will need to:

• Find an alternative clean and dry location to store the Roadshow

For a long time Jon Has been putting a selection a very creative headboards across his OOLS engines.

After the latest SVR Roadshow and an image of his OO Live Steam Club Headboard our Andrew suggested the idea that we stock this in our club shop. After some discussions with Nick he tasked me to find a idea and quote for a range that we could sell.

Having used Silver Tay Models headboards on my own locos and knowing it was a smaller one man business I thought it would be a great choice. I asked for a quote for 25 headboards all etched and painted. They would be like johns with a silver metal and blue colour. These would be on a sprue ready to just snip off for people to use.

As previously mentioned, I have taken over the role of sourcing new polo shirts and clothing for the roadshow.

Having done some research earlier, and have got the ball rolling on wagons with Dapol I have got round to putting together my findings for you all. A quick note as well is that our previous supplier has closed business.

My suggested choice for the clothing is Direct Boot in Enfield.

My reasons for the suggestion are as follows:

1) Prices come below what we have paid previously.

2) Our chairman has experience with them, and so we have comfort they are good.

There has now been a reasonable period for discussion on this project and as pointed out with the long lead time we need to make a decision if we want them in time for the summer meet.

Personally I would prefer a box van or 5 plank wagon rather than a salt wagon but Jack was tasked with researching this project and although alternative suggestions have been made Jack has both contacted Dapol and given valid reasons for his recommendation and we should respect this. If successful we can always revisit the idea with a different type of wagon.

We now need to vote and to simplify the admin I have started a fresh discussion to record the result.
