Hi Everybody,
I talked with Chris this morning and we are both of the opinion that the risk of getting this virus will likely increase significantly in the coming days and weeks. Some of us are not in the best of health and as such Chris and I believe we should not attend Alexandra Palace this March.
I would further propose that those who have booked hotel accommodation should still receive the daily allowance.
Comments please.
Maurice

Does that include live Norman. ie can any one of us upload a live feed to our facebook page for millions (think big) to view? Presumably you would need administrator access since, surely you couldn't let anyone upload live to any facebook site?
I have to admit I am close to being a facebook denier and definitely a facebook avoider. With what my son is doing live on facebook with PlanesTV it's time I bit the bullet. (I'd ask him but he's not answering at the moment).
Adrian, anyone who has joined the facebook group can upload videos.
I didnt intend it to be a mechanism for the Club to make money. Just for like minded people to stay in touch and sane.
I had wondered whether (for example) Maurice might be able to continue his turorials at his layout and webcast live rather than the multi-camera-post-production route that now can't happen.
I for one would be glued to them.
And if George prepared a cavalcade of his loco collection to run one after the other and talked about the history behind them.. I would be glued.
And if Richard ..... etc etc
All it would take (Norman?) is an upload from a mobile phone to facebook live.
And thanks Nick for your optimism about my business. You may well be right saying "you won't be in business next year" but I am a glass half full person and want to exploit every opportunity.
A billion people stuck at home with the internet available is an opportunity.
It’s not a very promising out look for anyone and I predict with some certainty,, you won’t be in business next year.
While the idea you put forward has merit and to a certain extent and purpose, I’m not sure how it can be implemented effectively in the current situation. I just don’t think there will be undying interest and we all have our own issues to deal with like trying to find food and clothing and remaining healthy.
No amount of making money will save anyone in this war!!
PlanesTV has tested a live broadcast to try and entertain and (potentially) get money from our market to replace the summer airshows that will not now happen (and potentially close us down).

This might be an idea for the club - a bit like our summer meet but online but every week at a specific time.
It ought to be possible for each of us with a layout to host a weekly event.
Any thoughts anyone
We’ll meet again some sunny day!!!!!!!
Cancelled Doncaster as well. This year sucks!
Cancelled South Mimms and Horsham. Great service from Premier Inns
Some good news then, we've saved some money!
Yes this weekend cancelled at south mimms!
One has to cancel by 23.59 the previous day to booking.
No, not as yet. Picking up on Adrian's comment about Crawley expenses, as they were paying us £350, it would have cost the club very little, so there is little or no budget to pay these, Ally Pally was different as they pay us nothing and I had budgeted for that. However if Premier Inn are allowing one to cancel then that's good news. Can you, Nick/Adrian check and see if they will do the same for this weekend at Ally Pally.
Thanks,
Do we know if the May show at Donny is scrapped yet!
Adrian have you put this post on the public site?
I have had an email from Premier Inn offering free cancellation (despite booking non flex). I have cancelled so will not need reimbursing by the Club.
Others who have made similar bookings should have the same option. Look for an email.
Yep so have all shows this side of summer! We are going to be very quiet this year! Not what we thought at the beginning!!!!
London festival has been cancelled. The correct decision was made by us in good time.
Rugby players were never to be trusted!
Hopefully Horsham will be on track! (Sorry!)
I do think that for the next few shows, all us operators including the public should use hand sanitizers before and after using the controllers.
We can provide what’s needed and a regular alcohol rub down to the barriers etc should help immensely. Any filthy talk will be met with a nice cold blast of IPA! Ha ha!
Hi Guys.
Glad you have concluded that Aly Pali might be a dangerous place to be over the next few weeks. Especially, with the shortage of toilet rolls.
Even today I have just heard of a rugby player grabbing another player by the balls (sorry scrotum) rather than shake his hand.
There's just no telling were its all going to end.
Its my late chum Mike Feeneys' funeral tomorrow. Be interesting to see how many of us attending, might shortly be following him.
So yes. Its probably a very wise decision to cancel.
Lets make the next meet up especially good.
Charles
As I am not coming to the show, I will not be effected. However, I think it is wise to cancel attending the show.
The infection seems to be happening at random, with no apparent links to the infected areas. So, it is wise to take precautions.
I think we can leave this decision until nearer the time and heed government advice at the time although individuals may want to decide now.
Maurice, in your case it is pretty clear you will be taking extra precautions.
If Chris however wants to pull the plug then that's settled. I for one am happy to wait for now.
The event of course may cancel. If so, so be it.
Adrian
I have a gallon of IPA.... that should see it off!!! 😂
The information I have from people in the know is that the critical period for this nasty virus will be between mid March and mid April. As such individuals will have to take their own precautions and potentially self isolate.
I would support the suggestion.
As a point of interest, living on an island, totally dependant of ferries, I have increased my dry foods/tins/staples reserve to a three week supply, while the supermarket shelves are still reasonably full. The antibacterial hand wash has all sold out already. It may be prudent for everyone to look at their individual circumstances and make some plans accordingly.
This isn't a panic reaction, but a sensible precaution, taken ahead of any official announcements, which will not come until late for fear of creating panic. I speak as a trained emergency/disaster planner!
That’s a shame but it is for the best! we all need to keep fit and healthy.
