-Sad news indeed. Such a disappointing outcome after so much suffering and effort spent on searching for a cure. Our thoughts go out to the family. Maurice was a huge asset to the Club, pursuing his many tasks as chairman with enthusiasm and vigor. He leaves a large hole to fill and a hard act to follow.

Super to see them both well Chris and great you managed a trip out. Add me to the taxi rota to fetch and return Ruchard to a Roadshow.

All splendid stuff. Hope we get to see him at some point next year. Good to see Beryl too!!

We need to maintain friendly contact with Hornby at all levels. Who knows what they might yet unearth especially in China. Always pay a friendly visit where we exhibit together. I suggest we say thank you to a senior level too and maybe even a short flag wave from our Chairman to Mike Ashley.

Summer meet now moved to 6-7 August

Hmmmmmm,,, I think this is all a bit too much to late, Octobers mags are in press right now and most references to the autumn shows have already been put to print. So magazine articles and related spreads are way to late. You are likely to be told to naff off by most editors at this point in time. This should have been addressed at least 4 months ago as was suggested last autumn. My idea on Goody bags has changed since then as most live steamers will already have enough of what we may decide to give away free for no gain. Newcomers don’t need freebies they need sound advice which Chris Eric and myself give out in bucket loads every day to our membership, of course the rest of the committee may not know this fact. I think the ‘dormant locos’ drum has been banged for far to long, we do this on a regular basis so to amplify this over a couple of shows would just lead to headaches all round for the hardest working committee members. Something we definitely don’t need or want. So,,My proposal is to obtain a large quantity (say 100) of nice OOLS China 20th Anniversary mugs. ( design to be agreed) These will be given away free with purchases of £20 and over or sold at £9.95 each for those who just wish to have a Hornby OOLS mug on its own. Also,,, to celebrate 20 years of Hornby OOLS existence I would offer 20% shop discount to the first 20 customers each day at a show that spend over £50 on shop merchandise. (Smaller purchases under £50 wouldn’t count.) My suggestions are profit related for a good reason, we can only give away a certain amount of our income. Where does one stop with a naff goody bag?? My remit is to sell sell sell!!! for the good of the club. Simon kholer will have disappeared into the modelling ether by now so I whish you all the best with that one. Montana has left as well as others so I wouldn't bank on any Hornby support for a 20 year old legacy product. Hornby have their new babies now (TT:120) and old tech live steam is not in their diary now or in the future. Those of us that still hold on to OO live steam dreams need to wake up and smell the roses!

Back in June in order to simplify the site admin I transferred the oolivesteam.com domain name to WiX. Now the other three domain names, 00livesteam.com, oolivesteam.co.uk & 00livesteam.co.uk are due for renewal on the 17th November 2023. Still currently registered via 123Reg I very much suspect that I may have received reminders about the renewals but I having been distracted I may have deleted them as junk mail without realising the significance and have today received the final two day reminder. Although as I understand it a domain name can be renewed up to 30 days after it expires before being released for others to purchase, not wanting to take any chances and to ensure we don’t lose them I have spoken to Eric and short circuited the normal Finance Request system to manually renew all three via 123Reg. The renewal cost to 17/11/2025 is £49.17 and I will forward the invoice to Eric for reimbursement. I have also started the process of transferring the 00livesteam.com domain to WiX and the three year registration fees will be £44.88. I have paid this via PayPal and will pass the details to Eric for reimbursement. I considered transferring the two .co.uk names as well but currently WiX do not support these so for now they will remain registered via 123Reg. As I rarely need to access these this will not be a problem for administration purposes. Well, well, well,, talk about a storm in a Tea mug!!!! As there is no definitive vote for or against this project and much hypothesis and conjecture,,, I now vote to scrap the idea of a celebratory OOLS mug. It was only an idea people,, I now withdraw that idea! We will carry on as normal, !!!!!
