No doubt about it. Maurice has been a fantastic and pivotal element toward the hugely successful promotion of our club in so many ways. Not sure there are many who can follow all of that but I feel very privileged to be asked to take over as Exhibition Coordinator for the OOLSC. Thoroughly looking forward to exploring and enjoying the new role. Hopefully, this petrol shortage will get sorted intime to see old chums at MK and Gaydon in October.

He sold one recently to Anthony Vaughan and it fried the PCB board on his Mallard! James Reading did give him a new PCB. Maurice

I agree. God knows how many hours we've spent trying to get some of these going to no avail.

Excellent move!! I would suggest ordering some critical parts every 3-4 months! Say 30 sets of everything we deem critical! Wheels, Contacts, PCBs etc!! I do intend to find out why the thin PCBs have huge price difference between A4 and A3 though! One is £9 and the other is £25 for what is essentially the same item!!

I would just add that I’m not advocating that we sell parts for the above prices, but we price according to demand, availability and cost of buying a replacement loco.

Whatever people might think of him it seems to me James is definitely a very organised and disciplined person . . . although having one of the largest train rooms in the country is probably a big help!

In my view is a very good idea. As you say it will give us control and also ensure we can continue to repair & maintain both the club and customer locos.

I like this idea a lot, that is, using the summer meet to allow her to start a live steam loco from scratch a la Hornby’s instructions and evaluate the results etc! We can use this time to enlighten her of our club based efforts and new products that allow the pleasurable control of live steam that was only dreamed dreamed of. Also we don’t have to ship a set to her and then ship it back,,,, a lot of money and agro!
